Yolanda Ford To Be Sworn In Monday As Missouri City Mayor
Former Missouri City Councilwoman Yolanda Ford will take her oath of office as Missouri City's new mayor.

MISSOURI CITY, TX — For the first time in nearly 25 years, Missouri City has a new mayor. Former Missouri City Councilwoman Yolanda Ford unseated Mayor Allen Owen, and became the first female and African American to be elected mayor in Missouri City On Monday, she will take her oath of office.
Owen, who’d served as mayor for 24 years, was among a trio of Fort Bend County mayors who in recent years, had spent decades representing a city in local government.
Ford's victory is significant for Missouri City's sizable African-American community, which for years, has been working to make a political impact in their community.

Ford has spent five years on the city council before resigning earlier this year to run for mayor of Missouri City.
Ford will be sworn in as mayor at the next Missouri City Council meeting on Dec. 17.
