• Cass County convicted sex offender, 85, faces federal child pornography charges (texarkanagazette.com) — Federal authorities in Texarkana have charged an 85-year-old Cass County man with possession of child pornography, and he remains in custody ahead of a scheduled hearing this week. Investigators say the case began with a probation report, and court records show he has prior indecency convictions; if found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
   

• Man Accused Of Stealing Check From Mailbox of Business (txktoday.com) — A Springdale, Arkansas man is jailed after a Nash business reported a $9,000 check was stolen and later cashed at Texana Bank in Texarkana with the payee allegedly altered. The 42-year-old suspect faces a state jail forgery charge in Bowie County, with bond set at $20,000 and the case assigned to a district judge.
   

• Texas Hospital Celebrates Major Milestone With 400th Safe Haven Baby Box Opening (blabber.buzz) — A new Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at Texarkana Emergency Center-Hospital, giving local parents in crisis a secure, anonymous way to surrender newborns. Community groups from Texarkana helped fund the box, which is the fourteenth in Texas and part of a nationwide effort to prevent unsafe infant abandonment under the state’s Safe Haven law.
