• County contracts with BARC to hold impounded animals (uvaldeleadernews.com) — Uvalde County has signed a long-term contract with the new Briscoe Animal Resource Center to house aggressive dogs and animals needing rabies quarantine, replacing boarding at local vet offices. The deal reserves 18 shelter spaces for county cases, funded partly through existing county allocations, while volunteers handle daily care. Leaders also acknowledged ongoing stray problems in areas like Knippa and Uvalde Estates and discussed future animal control procedures.
   

• Victim charged in drive-by shooting (uvaldeleadernews.com) — Uvalde residents are learning more about September’s South High Street drive-by shooting, as local police now say four teenagers — including the 15-year-old victim — face criminal charges tied to the incident. Investigators describe a web of weapons, organized criminal activity, and long-simmering tensions, while the victim continues recovering and one adult suspect recently surrendered after a multi-day search.
