- Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a popular hamburger restaurant chain, is set to open its first location in Victoria later this year. Construction of the 7,000-square-foot restaurant is currently in progress, and if all goes well, it is expected to start serving its cooked-to-order menu items and desserts in October. The company spokesperson expressed excitement about expanding into Victoria and believes that their dedication to hospitality and fast, friendly service will be well-received by the local community. - The South Island Prosperity Partnership (SIPP), Greater Victoria's economic development agency, has experienced a year of expansion with the launch of the Centre for Ocean Applied Sustainable Technologies and the Indigenous Prosperity Centre. SIPP has also added three executive directors and doubled its staff to seize new opportunities for the region. Additionally, Destination Greater Victoria has been recognized with an international award for its sustainability initiatives, specifically its commitment to the IMPACT Sustainability Travel and Tourism initiative. - The section of Hiller Street between Wheeler and DeLeon will be temporarily closed on Monday and Tuesday for utility workers to install new utilities. - Victoria County Public Health Department is seeking a new Sanitation Inspector. This position will work within the Environmental Services Division. Someone with a background or interest in microbiology is preferred but not required. (Victoria County Public Health Department)
- If you have an eye for hidden objects, consider joining the "Explore Victoria Birding I-Spy" activity. Along the Riverside Park walking trail, 10 metal bird displays featuring native or migrating bird species can be found.
