Brother Gary Moses Named as Ride for Change Benefactor (wearevictoria.com) โ€” A beloved Victoria educator and community volunteer, Brother Gary Moses, has been chosen as the namesake benefactor for the Ride for Change minority scholarships supporting Victoria students. All funds raised locally will go directly to scholarships for minority students in the Victoria community, with winners selected through essays and honored in person by Moses and organizers.

Commissioners Court OKs local firm for $1.8M air traffic control tower upgrade (victoriaadvocate.com) โ€” Victoria County has approved a contract with local firm Lauger Companies to rehabilitate the aging air traffic control tower at Victoria Regional Airport, pending final FAA grant approval. The $1.84 million project will modernize the 2001-built tower with upgrades like a womenโ€™s restroom, HVAC, windows, and lighting, with the county covering a small matching share once federal funding is finalized.

4. dd's to open in shuttered South Texas Big Lots location (mysanantonio.com) โ€” Victoria shoppers may be interested to know that Ollieโ€™s Bargain Outlet has acquired the former Big Lots location here, even as the Edinburg Big Lots site is being transformed into a new ddโ€™s DISCOUNTS store. The Edinburg space will undergo a $1.2 million renovation starting in early 2026 after Big Lotsโ€™ nationwide bankruptcy closures. Other chains like Burlington and James Avery are also moving into former Big Lots and nearby spaces across South Texas.
