Every town has its traditions. Check out these fun facts about what makes Waco so special.

Waco is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Waco has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Waco is home to the world's largest collection of Dr. Pepper memorabilia at the Dr. Pepper Museum. Soda enthusiasts can learn about the history and see vintage bottles, signs and even a 1920s soda fountain.
  • The Waco Mammoth National Monument is a paleontological site where visitors can see the fossils of 24 Columbian mammoths that roamed the area over 10,000 years ago.
  • The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco is a must-visit for history buffs. The exhibits showcase the legendary law enforcement agency's history and artifacts like guns and badges.
  • For a unique shopping experience, visitors can head to the Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned by HGTV's Chip and Joanna Gaines. The market features a variety of handmade goods, as well as a bakery and food trucks.
  • Waco is home to the Cameron Park Zoo, which has over 1,700 animals from 300 different species. Visitors can see everything from lions and tigers to monkeys and reptiles.
