• Texas AG Ken Paxton launches statewide tax investigation, Texoma city responds (kxii.com) — Whitesboro’s recent property tax increase from 38 to 58 cents is under scrutiny as part of a statewide investigation by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton into possible violations of a new transparency law. City Administrator Phil Harris insists the city followed the law, has heard nothing back from the state, and is holding all extra tax revenue in a separate account until the issue is resolved.
