Presley Babb Hopes To Make A Difference As Miss Tomball 2019

Presley Babb is continuing a family tradition after she was crowned Miss Tomball 2019 late last year. So, what does it mean to her?

TOMBALL, TX — Tomball High School Senior Presley Babb looks every bit the beauty queen, and that's because she's living 2019 with a tiara.

Babb, 18, who is the daughter of Rett and Dallis Babb, became Miss Tomball 2019 at the end of 2018, and she is loving every morsel that comes with the pageant title.

"It's so awesome," Babb said. "I am completely recognized by the whole entire community. Honestly, I feel like I am a prominent figure in Tomball...I never thought I would be that person."

The Miss Tomball pageant, an event sponsored by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce and held each year at Salem Lutheran Church, was the first for Babb.

She competed in 2017 for the first time, and lost to Casey Vann, who was on the cheerleading squad with Babb.

The Miss Tomball Pageant is open Tomball ISD girls who are or will be juniors or seniors at the pageant. The winners and four other contestants are awarded scholarships by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce.

Miss Tomball serves as as an ambassador at public community events, such as parades and other events in support of causes.

Since being crowned in November, Babb has been on hand at the 2nd Annual Abandoned Animal Rescue Holiday Pancake Breakfast, and was there when the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce honored Lattrell and Sam Shannon as the 2018 Citizens of the Year.

Babb, who was drawn to doing more in her hometown, said she was also encouraged by her mother, who was Miss Tomball when she was a high school senior.

"I think I really wanted to follow in her footsteps, because I really look up to her," Babb said.

She also hopes to jump start some community initiatives, such as a reading program in partnership with Lone Star College-Tomball to read to elementary school children in Tomball ISD.

Once her reign is over, Babb, a straight A student, hopes to move on to a university to study medicine. However, she also plans to stay involved in her hometown.

"I still plan on being very involved. I can't want to work with the chamber of commerce after Miss Tomball is done, and hopefully do things through them."
