Rails and Tails Mudbug Fest Kicks Off Festival Season
The Honky Tonk Chili Challenge will be held on Saturday, May 27.
TOMBALL, TX —The City of Tomball’s recent Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival pulled big numbers as the sixth annual event drew more than 7,500 crawfish loving festival goers to the historic downtown depot. Though the festival was a washout in 2016 because of area flooding, the 2017 event saw a 25% increase in attendance over 2015 numbers.
Throughout the weekend visitors were entertained by The Fab 5, Waylon Thibodeaux and other popular performers while munching on crawfish, gator sticks, boudin balls and other festival foods.
Five time champion, Thomas Reynolds of Magnolia again took home the crown as winner of the Bayou Belly Buster Boudin Ball Eating Contest on Saturday, while Landon Stowe of Pinehurst “rode” to victory in the Roux Run at Depot Downs live crawfish race on Sunday.
