THE WOODLANDS, TX — The search is on to fill the vacancy for retiring Fire Chief Alan Benson who has served The Woodlands Township for 14 years. Benson, who served with the Oklahoma City Fire Department 25 years before coming to The Woodlands in 2005, announced last month that he was hanging up his bunker gear for good on May 2.

Until the Township board officially names a replacement, the department will be under the guidance of Deputy Chief Doug Adams.

Adams, who joined The Woodlands Fire Department in 1996, has served in a number of leadership roles within the department. He assumed his current role in the department in February 2017.
