Woodlands Church Buys Home For Family Whose House Burned

Church Project in the Woodlands is giving April Gaines a new home, more than a year after a fire destroyed her home and killed 3 of her kids

TAMINA, TX — A mother who lost three of her four children in a tragic fire in May 2017 got the surprise of her life when a Woodlands church offered to buy her and her surviving son a new home.

Since that horrific day in May 2017, when April Gaines, and her 12-year-old son Adrian have been living with family, and working slowly to rebuild their lives.

On May 12, 2017, Terrance, Kaila and Kyle Mitchell all died when they became trapped inside their burning Tamina home.

Adrian, who was 10-years-old at the time, was injured but escaped the flames with his mother.

On Thursday, April met up with Pastor Jason Shepperd from Church Project in the Woodlands, at the site of that tragic fire.

That’s where Shepperd, who has known April for two decades, told her the church was going to give her and her son a new home, according to an ABC-13 report.
