The Woodlands Township Honors 200 Local Volunteers
Volunteers from the Woodlands were honored at the annual Spirit of Service Reception on Feb. 27

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors recognized more than 200 volunteers at the annual Spirit of Service Reception on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The awards included Volunteers of the Year for the Township Neighborhood Watch and Parks and Recreation departments.
Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch welcomed the group and thanked the many volunteers for their service.

“Of the many things that make The Woodlands such a wonderful place to live are the residents who go above and beyond to improve our community,” he said. “This includes the many residents who regularly serve selflessly to enhance the quality of life for all of us. And for these people, we are truly grateful.”
Volunteer of the Year awards went to the Hands-Only CPR team of Ron Mullins, Mike Larson, Ken Schumann, William Atteridge and Tom Schwartzkopf for The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, Haleh Liittjohann, also for The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, and the Bayou Land Conservancy Trail Crew team of Bob Goode, Frank Halter, Peter Jensen, Dean Kahney, Steve Murray and John Stacy were awarded by the Township’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Also receiving recognition were members of the CERT: The Woodlands Community Emergency Response Team Committee, Development Standards Committee, the Law Enforcement Advisory Council, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Council, the Residential Design Review Committees, Visit the Woodlands Board of Directors and Marketing Committee and all eight of the Village Associations.
