Woodlands Water Rates May Increase
Residents of The Woodlands may see their water rates increase this fall.

The Woodlands, TX -- Residents of Southern Montgomery County may experience sudden and severe shocks this fall when they see that their water bills may have increased.
In June the San Jacinto River Authority, which supplies water to Southern Montgomery County, voted to increase water rates by 18 cents, taking the cost of groundwater from $2.32 per 1,000 gallons to $2.50 per 1,000 gallons. The cost of surface water will go from $2.51 per 1,000 gallons to $2.69 per 1,000 gallons.
The increase will go into effect on Sept. 1 and was approved by the authority's board to offset losses in operating revenue from a rainy spring and early summer. It will up to each water supplier to determine how much of the increase gets passed on to residential customers.
