The Australian Open finals will be the first all-Williams finals at a tennis major since 2009, when the pair met for the championship at Wimbledon.
“She’s my toughest opponent,” Serena Williams said of her sister, according to The New York Times. “No one has ever beaten me as much as Venus has. She has a pretty good record against me, and we have a good record against each other. I just feel like, no matter what happens, we’ve won. She’s been through a lot, and I’ve been through a lot. And to see her come back and do so well is great.”
Serena holds a 16 to 11 edge in the sisters' all-time series.
On the men's side, Nadal finished off a thrilling five-set victory over Grigor Dimitrov on Friday morning to clinch his spot in the finals. Federer dispatched Stan Wawrinka on Thursday morning.
Nadal leads the series between him and Federer 23–11. Nadal has also won nine out of their 11 Grand Slam matches.
