Fireworks Safety: Mannequins Blow Up In Dramatic CPSC Video
The CPSC offers a few basic tips to ensure how you and your family can celebrate a safe and injury-free Fourth of July.
Fourth of July is about a lot of things and there's no doubt fireworks are a major part of the celebrations. However, fireworks as we all know can be dangerous and state and local officials remind us of those dangers every year the holiday rolls around.
In an effort to warn patriotic Americans of the dangers of fireworks, the Consumer Product Safety Commission demonstrated those dangers on the National Mall and offered some tips on how to celebrate a safe Fourth of July.
The CPSC offers the following basic tips for a safer celebration:

- Never allow children to handle a firework device
- Check local laws and only use legal, consumer-grade fireworks
- Leave professional fireworks to the professionals
- If using consumer fireworks, make sure you keep a bucket of water or a hose handy
- Don't try to relight a firework that turns out to be a dud
