International Flight Diverted To Corpus Christi For Broken A/C

An international flight was diverted Wednesday to Corpus Chris International Airport when the airplane’s air conditioning went out, according to an airport official.

The Delta flight from Monterey, Mexico to Atlanta was forced to land in Corpus Christi, since the coastal Texas city was in the flight path, after the air conditioner stopped working, the airport’s chief of public safety, John Hyland, told Patch.

Hyland described the temperatures in the airplane cabin as like “being in your attic in the summertime.”

Temperatures in Corpus Christi reached 83 degrees Wednesday, Hyland said.

The plane was deboarded, and two people were put in an air-conditioned ambulance and given water to cool them down, Hyland said, but otherwise nobody was injured.

The plane was scheduled to reboard and continue to Atlanta, Hyland said.
