Solar Eclipse 2017: Updated Weather Forecast For Prime Viewing Locations

The Great American Eclipse will hit Newport, Oregon, in a little more than two hours, and for viewers in the pacific Northwest, the good news is that the cloud cover forecast seems to be in their favor.

According to the National Weather Service's most updated forecast, the Northwest and much of the Southeast will mostly have clear viewing conditions, though those in the central United States might not be as happy with the forecast.

Here's the NWS' most updated forecast for prime viewing locations:

Newport, Oregon-Patchy fog before 11 a.m. and mostly sunny starting at 11 a.m. (Peak viewing time is 10:15 a.m. Pacific time)

McMinnville, Oregon-Sunny all day (Peak viewing time is 10:17 a.m. Pacific time)

Salem, Oregon-Sunny all day with patchy smoke possible starting at around 11 a.m. (Peak viewing time is 10:17 a.m. Pacific time)

Idaho Falls, Idaho-Sunny all day (Peak viewing time is 11:32 a.m. Mountain time)

Casper, Wyoming-Patchy smoke possible all day (Peak viewing time is 11:42 a.m. Mountain time)

Alliance, Nebraska-Partly sunny (Peak viewing time is 11:49 a.m. Mountain time)

Lincoln, Nebraska-Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms all day (Peak viewing time is 1:02 p.m. central time)

Kansas City, Missouri-Chance of showers and thunderstorms (Peak viewing time is 1:07 p.m. central time)

Jefferson City, Missouri-Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms (Peak viewing time is 1:13 p.m. central time)

Chesterfield (near St. Louis), Missouri-Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms (Peak viewing time is 1:16 p.m. central time)

Carbondale, Illinois-Mostly sunny (Peak viewing time is 1:19 p.m. central time)

Paducah, Kentucky-Partly sunny (Peak viewing time is 1:22 p.m. central time)

Bowling Green, Kentucky-Mostly sunny (Peak viewing time is 1:27 p.m. central time)

Nashville, Tennessee-Mostly sunny (Peak viewing time is 1:27 p.m. central time)

Clemson, South Carolina- Mostly sunny with a chance of isolated thunderstorms starting at 3 p.m. (Peak viewing time is 2:37 p.m. eastern time)

Greer, South Carolina- Mostly sunny (Peak viewing time is 2:38 p.m. eastern time)

Columbia, South Carolina- Mostly sunny with a slight chance of thunderstorms starting at 2 p.m. (Peak viewing time is 2:41 p.m. eastern time)

Charleston, South Carolina- Chance of showers and thunderstorms all day (Peak viewing time is 2:45 p.m. eastern time)
