Country Stunned By Attack On Lawmakers

Rep. Steve Scalise is still in the hospital today after he was shot in an attack Wednesday at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, that left four others wounded and the assailant dead. Capitol Police were on the scene and took the shooter down, a move that Sen. Rand Paul said prevented a "massacre." President Trump gave a speech urging unity and peace after the attack. (Patch)

Trump Is Reportedly Under Investigation For Obstruction of Justice

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating President Trump for potentially obstructing justice in the FBI's Russia investigation, according to the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. This means that, as a part of an effort to lift the "cloud" of an investigation that didn't target him directly, Trump may have incriminated himself. Some defenders of the president have accused the Mueller team of leaking, but there's no evidence the leaks came from the special counsel's investigation directly. (Patch)
