West Virginia Cargo Plane Crash Leaves 2 Dead: Report

BREAKING: The plane reportedly went off the runway Friday morning.

CHARLESTON, WV — Two people were killed Friday when a cargo plane delivering packages for UPS went off the runway in West Virginia, according to multiple media reports.

The pilot and co-pilot are said to have been killed, NBC News reports. No other were believed to be on board.


According to the FAA, the cargo plane struck its left wing on the runway when landing at Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia, and veered off the runway just before 7 a.m. Friday. The flight had departed from Louisville Airport in Kentucky.

"We are aware of an incident in Charleston Wv, involving a small feeder aircraft carrying UPS packages. The aircraft is not a UPS aircraft but we do not have additional information to share about the carrier, or condition of the aircraft or crew," UPS said in a statement. "The flight departed Louisville, KY about 5:35 this morning and was due in to Charleston about 6:20. As we attempt to learn more about the situation, we are keeping the crew involved in our heartfelt thoughts."
