Black Friday 2016 is here. And despite technology and the internet taking over our worlds, Black Friday is still one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

It's also one of the best days for deals. Many major retailers have had their Black Friday catalogs posted and had pre-Black Friday sales going on for weeks. But expect retailers to save their best deals for Friday.

"We’re seeing that even retailers are keeping some of their most popular items to be available and on sale Black Friday that normally they wouldn’t put on sale any other time of the year," Ana Serafin a spokeswoman for the National Retail Foundation, told Patch. "That’s still a big draw to get consumers into their stores and onto their web sites."

Black Friday actually isn't the most popular shopping day of the year.

"Black Friday is the second most popular shopping day of the holiday season," Serafin told Patch. "The first one being 'Super Saturday' — the Saturday before Christmas — for all the people that were procrastinating."

Leading the group of Black Friday participation, Serafin said, are millenials, who are drawn to the shared experience of the shopping holiday. The NRF's projections say that 86 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds and 78 percent of 25- to 34-year-olds plan on doing some sort of Black Friday shopping, leading all age groups.

"Black Friday is one of the very few moments in time in the retail industry where you get to experience shopping in mass amounts of quantities," Serafin told Patch. "And millenials are very about that — an experiential moment."
