The photos come from the FBI's Freedom of Information Act Library.

WASHINGTON, DC — The FBI has released dozens of images showing the damage from the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon on its Freedom of Information Act Vault.

These photos show the destruction the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 caused when it slammed into the side of the building. You can also see debris apparently left by the plane and emergency workers responding to the crisis.

One hundred and eighty-four people were killed in the attack, and nearly 3,000 died in the other hijacked planes and in the World Trade Center in New York City.
