CNN Report: FBI Translator Marries ISIS Member
CNN details the episode of FBI employee with top security clearance who lied to her supervisors to marry a man she was tracking.

WASHINGTON, DC — FBI translator Daniela Greene absconded to Syria in 2014 to marry a former rapper who was an ISIS recruiter while she was investigating him, according to court documents released this week. In a lengthy report, CNN exposes a deeply embarrassing episode for the bureau that targets exactly the type of defectors to ISIS that its employee became.
Greene, an employee at the FBI with top secret security clearance, was assigned to investigate Denis Cuspert, a German rapper who had become a "pitchman" for ISIS and drew the attention of American counterterrorism officials as an online recruiter, CNN reports. She eventually misled her supervisors to travel to Syria and marry Cuspert, but the marriage only lasted a few weeks; she returned to the United States, where she was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison.
"I was weak and didn't know how to handle anything anymore," Greene wrote in an email according to court documents. "I really made a mess of things this time."
