Kellyanne Conway Dislikes President Trump? White House Counselor Fires Back At 'Morning Joe'

The show's hosts claimed Conway had said she needed to "take a shower" after defending Trump.

Kellyanne Conway shot back at the hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Tuesday after they claimed that she disliked Donald Trump and had said privately that she needed to "take a shower" after defending him publicly during the campaign. Hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough also said she seemed to regard her role in the campaign as a "summer vacation," insinuating that she may have been working for then-candidate Donald Trump for the money.

"The notion that I am serving for 'the money' or a 'paycheck' is absurd," Conway said on Twitter. "As a campaign manager, I have made a fraction of what other consultants have made on unsuccessful presidential campaigns."

She continued: "It is a privilege to assist President Trump in the White House, just as it was during the campaign. I know him, respect him, I believe in him, and I am confident in his capacity to be a transformative and successful President."

Conway said that Brzezinski and Scarborough, who recently announced that they are engaged, have become "virulent critics" of Trump.

"She came on our show during the campaign, and would shill for Trump in extensive fashion," Brzezinski said Monday. "And then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off. And then she would say 'Blech! I need a shower,' because she disliked her candidate so much."

Scarborough also noted that after the "Access Hollywood" tapes were discovered of Trump bragging about grabbing women sexually without asking, Conway began referring to Trump as "my client."

"Morning Joe" had previously announced that it would not have Conway on anymore because she was not a reliable source of truthful information.

Before she went to work for Trump as his campaign manager, Conway chaired a political action committee that supported rival candidate Ted Cruz. During that time, she criticized Trump directly on air multiple times. She called him out for business practices that hurt the "little guy," for not revealing his tax returns and for his talk of a "rigged election."
