Michael Flynn Associates Subpoenaed In Trump-Russia Probe: CNN
This is the first major development in the investigation that has dogged the Trump administration.

WASHINGTON, DC — In the first major development of the federal investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence operations, prosecutors issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn in search of business records, according to an exclusive CNN report Tuesday night.
The news broke only hours after it was revealed that President Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey, the man in charge of the agency known to be investigating the president's campaign. Comey has revealed that the bureau has an ongoing investigation, which began in July 2016, into whether the campaign colluded with Russian operatives in their attempts to hack and distribute emails that would be damaging to the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Flynn was dismissed from his role at the White House after it was revealed he misled the vice president and the public about the nature of a phone conversation he had with the Russian ambassador prior to Trump's inauguration. He falsely claimed that they had not discussed sanctions the U.S. levied against Russia in retaliation for its attempts to influence the 2016 election. He is also facing scrutiny for receiving funds from both Russian and Turkish officials.
