NY Times Reporter Suspended After Sex Misconduct Claims: Vox

The New York Times White House reporter was suspended after several women came forward to accuse him of sex misconduct in Vox.

WASHINGTON, DC — The news website Vox on Monday reported that New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush was suspended from the newspaper after several women came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct. In the Vox report, several women claimed Thrush acted inappropriately toward them when they were trying to get a foothold into the competitive Washington political reporting scene as young journalists at Politico. The women recounted a range of unwanted sexual advances by Thrush, which often played out after work hours in DC-area bars under the influence of alcohol.

In a statement Monday, the Times said Thrush would be suspended pending an investigation. “The behavior attributed to Glenn in this Vox story is very concerning and not in keeping with the standards and values of The New York Times,” The Times said. “We intend to fully investigate and while we do, Glenn will be suspended.”

Thrush said in a statement to Vox that he's been struggling with alcoholism, and that he is "working hard to repair the damage I have done." He also called one of the allegations in the Vox article a "life-changing event," and offered an apology to the woman who accused him of mistreatment.
