Oprah On 2020 Presidential Run: 'I Don't Have The DNA For It'

The entertainer shut down rumors of a possible run for president in 2020, saying it's not something that interests her.

The Golden Globes honored Oprah with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in January, sparking rumors that the entertainer may be considering a presidential run. Oprah's rousing speech after accepting the award left people inspired and excited about the prospect of a President Oprah.

Addressing that question about two weeks later, Oprah said running for president is not something that interests her.

Speaking with InStyle magazine, Oprah was asked whether #Oprah2020 could become a reality.

"I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not," Oprah told the magazine. "And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it."

The possibility of an Oprah presidential run was never too far fetched of an idea and recent polling from CNN showed President Donald Trump trailing Oprah in a hypothetical 2020 matchup.

Trump addressed the buzz surrounding an Oprah run earlier this month, saying he liked her and she "will be lots of fun."

"I'll beat Oprah," he told reporters. Trump then added, "I don't think she's going to run."
