Politicians across the United States on Saturday congratulated Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their projected win in the 2020 presidential election.
Among those who reached out to congratulate the president- and vice president-elect was former President Barack Obama, under whom Biden served as vice president from 2008 to 2016.

Former President Bill Clinton and 2016 Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton both took to social media to congratulate Biden on Saturday as well.
"America has spoken and democracy has won," Bill Clinton wrote on Twitter. "Now we have a President-Elect and Vice President-Elect who will serve all of us and bring us all together. Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on your momentous victory!"
Hillary Clinton, who lost a hard-fought campaign against President Donald Trump in 2016, said Biden and Harris are "a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America."
Tim Kaine, Democratic vice presidential nominee in the 2016 election, also issued a statement on Twitter.
"Joe Biden is going to restore competence, compassion, and character to the White House when he is inaugurated in January—and that's a win for ALL Americans. Congrats to Joe, Kamala, and everyone who has been fighting hard for this critical step forward for our nation," Kaine wrote on Twitter. "Kamala Harris has made history—young girls, and girls of color especially, no longer have to wonder if there's a place for them in our nation's leadership. There is today and there will be forevermore. Thank you Kamala!"
Jeb Bush, who ran for president on the Republican ticket in 2016, also congratulated Biden, saying he will be praying for the President-elect.
"Congratulations to President-elect Biden," he wrote. "I have prayed for our President most of my adult life. I will be praying for you and your success. Now is the time to heal deep wounds. Many are counting on you to lead the way."
As of Saturday afternoon, Jeb Bush's Brother, Former President George W. Bush, had not made a statement regarding the election.
Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, who ran against Obama in 2012, also addressed Saturday's projected victory.
"Ann and I extend our congratulations to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris," Romney wrote. "We know both of them as people of good will and admirable character. We pray that God may bless them in the days and years ahead."
Jimmy Carter, the oldest living U.S. president, also issued a statement expressing pride and hope for the future of the country under Biden's leadership.
“Rosalynn joins me in congratulating our friends President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris," Carter said in a statement. "We are proud of their well-run campaign and look forward to seeing the positive change they bring to our nation."
