Trump Winery Seeks To Hire Foreign Workers — Again: BuzzFeed

Trump campaigned on an "America first" platform, but he has said it's "almost impossible" to find U.S. workers for those jobs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Virginia winery owned by President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump is seeking to hire additional foreign workers, BuzzFeed News reported Wednesday, citing a petition posted by the Department of Labor. According to the report, six workers are sought for jobs on the 1,300-acre estate in Charlottesville that would start in January and last until July.

The workers would be brought in on the H-2 visa program, which allows employers to hire workers from overseas as long as no qualified American workers wanted the jobs. Trump, who campaigned on an America first platform in the 2016 presidential election, previously said it’s “almost impossible” to find workers to staff his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

BuzzFeed also noted that businesses owned by Trump or ones that bear his name have used the visa program frequently, and have sought to bring in 400 foreign workers for various jobs since the start of the 2016 presidential campaign. More than 100,000 foreign workers have been brought to the U.S. under the program since 2003, BuzzFeed reported.
