Watch Replay: Sean Spicer Delivers April 13 Press Briefing

The White House press secretary kept the day's briefing much shorter than usual.

WASHINGTON, DC — White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer delivered a very short televised briefing Thursday afternoon. He directed most questions about the military's use of the country's most powerful non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan to the the Defense Department, without confirming or denying that Trump had was aware of the strike before it happened.

It was be Spicer's first briefing since Tuesday, when he sparked outrage by falsely claiming that Hitler never used chemical weapons. Spicer eventually apologized, but not before issuing a series of confusing, incorrect and offensive clarifications, breaking the one cardinal rule of press secretaries: Don't become the story. American-Russian relations also continue to be a major subject of debate in Washington following Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's meeting in Moscow on Wednesday.
