The company has received major backlash after its president made anti-gay marriage remarks in several interviews.

Alex was born and raised in New Jersey (although she spent a few years living in Canada between 1997 and 1999). Throughout middle school and high school, she had a passion for English and loved reading and writing, so journalism seemed a natural choice when she was accepted to the University of Maryland, College Park. She graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism.
Over the past four years, Alex has had several editorial internships and spent a semester working as a Patch contributor as part of PatchU. Last semester, she interned as a social media strategist with a non-profit, bipartisan organization in D.C. called No Labels. Alex enjoyed her experience with social media, and after Patch, she plans to explore opportunities in that field, as well as in multimedia journalism and communications.
Alex is looking forward to a great summer with Patch and is always trying to find interesting stories to cover.
