Seymour Library welcomes again the historian John Cilio. Mr. Cilio will give a nostalgic look at how the Christmas holidays were celebrated throughout the years in the United States.
Christmas celebrations in America are ever changing. Common celebration symbols have been added,&nbsp;changed or disappeared over the years. President Franklin Pierce was the first to have a Christmas tree in 1853. Since than the Christmas tree has come into its own--lights for the tree--candles, then electric lights and ornaments of glass, tin, cardboard and plastic have been become a constant to the American holiday.
Join us for a nostalgic look on how families celebrated the holidays--remembering the cards, Christmas trees--ornaments, lights and tinsel and food.
