Bio

Khari Johnson is the local editor of Imperial Beach Patch and La Mesa Patch. He was raised in San Diego's East County and graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in print and online journalism. He has worked for newspapers, magazines and news websites in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Colorado Springs and south Florida.

Shortly before joining Patch in August 2010 Khari was a freelance writer, photographer and video producer for startup online news publications like eastcountymagazine.org, San Diego News Network and The People's Post, a collaboration between the Media Arts Center of San Diego and voiceofsandiego.org. He also routinely took pictures for nonprofit and civic organizations, musicians, churches and other clients.

Politics

How would you describe your political beliefs?

I reject the idea that political party must equate to certain political beliefs.

Politicians may lead us to believe otherwise but that's not how people live their lives or how they should form their opinions. Political philosophy is relevant but so is a person's life experiences which create perspectives and point of view. My views typically lean to the left, but I follow reason and rationale.

Education should always be a priority.

Are you registered with a certain party?

I'm not sure but I have registered as a Democrat in the past.

Religion

I try to observe virtues Christianity taught me like humility, social justice and loving your neighbor.
