Matthew McGevna is a veteran journalist with more than seven years of experience at broadcast and print news outlets.
After graduating from Long Island University Southampton College, he began working as a production assistant and associate producer at News12 Long Island. He field produced morning shows, special editions, court cases and sports events from 1998 to 2003.
He went on to serve as Editor of the Malverne/West Hempstead Herald, and later as the News Editor of PRWeek, a national business magazine that covers the public relations industry. Prior to his full-time hire at Sachem Patch, he freelanced for the Long Beach Patch.
He also holds a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from Southampton College and has taught literature and composition at the collegiate level. His publishing credits include fiction, poetry, and full-length new features as a freelancer.
