Cops: 3K In Valuables Stolen From Woman's Car

Victim said she was spending time at Wolffer Estate and had left her doors unlocked.

The following police incidents were reported this week by the Southampton Town Police Department east of the Shinnecock Canal.

Sagaponack

  • A woman spending time at the Wolffer Estate Stables and Winery on Narrow Lane had her 2013 BMW broken into and had about $3,000 in valuables taken. According to police. the woman called 911 at around 9 p.m. on Sept. 30 to make the report. She said she had left her vehicle unlocked while she was at the estate between 4:30 p.m .and 7:30 p.m., and when she returned to her car she noticed her purse was missing from the front seat. Stolen was her Bottega Veneta purse, valued at $2,500, Isaac Mizrahi sunglasses, valued at $100, a Cross Fountain pen, worth $150, a wallet with gift cards, valued at $150 and a Verizon hot-spot box for internet service, valued at $100. She cancelled her credit cards.

  • Someone broke into a 2004 Jeep that was parked in the driveway of a house on Shore Road and stole cash, keys and a purse in the early morning hours of Oct. 6. The victim said she was asleep in her house at around 5 a.m. and was awakened by her barking dog. When she went to the front window she noticed her car had been rummaged through. The complainant said this is the second time in just three weeks that her car has been broken into. Stolen in this case was $400 in cash, keys to a storage locker and a small brown purse. Police are investigating the theft.
  • Someone got through the gated area of Mahoney’s Plumbing & Heating on Mary’s Lane and stole a steel drum and various copper and brass fittings that were placed against the side of the building sometime between Sept. 27 and Oct. 1. The owner of the business called 911 on Oct. 2 at around 9:15 a.m. to report the theft. There were no cameras installed to capture that portion of the property. The items were valued at approximately $400.

Bridgehampton

  • The owner of a business on Middle Line Highway called 911 at around 7 a.m. to report that someone had cut the lock that secures the access road to his Wainscott Sand & Gravel sometime on Sept. 30. The complainant claimed he had trouble with ATV drivers using his access road to ride around. Police are advising extra patrols on off-business hours in the area.

  • Someone stole a wooden “Billy Goat cart” from a house on Rose Hill Road on Oct. 3. The owner said the cart was being used for gardening, and it was stolen from her garage. The cart had flat tires, and was estimated to be worth at around $200.
