Firefighters say these off-the-clock acts of service are part of their everyday culture, and longtime resident Colleen Wilburn credits them with saving her life and urges neighbors to appreciate first responders this season. 
• YouTube sensation among those called to LDS Church advisory council for young men (eastidahonews.com) — A Hurricane resident, Derral Eves, has been called to the Young Men General Advisory Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joining 13 others who will advise global youth programs. The council, led from Salt Lake City, includes several Utah members and YouTube creators, and began its service on December 1, shaping how young men are taught and supported worldwide.
