Utah State University officials wait on lawmakers for millions in budget funds (fox13now.com) — Utah State University in Logan is still waiting on lawmakers to release about $8 million in withheld funding, money that could shape local programs in AI, engineering, health care, and student success. New president Brad Mortensen says they’re cautiously moving ahead with partial funds while a legislative audit into past spending is finalized, with a key hearing set for January 30.

USU athletics: Big win for women's hoops team; 3 program records in track & field (hjnews.com) — Utah State women’s basketball picked up a confidence-boosting home win at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, just ahead of Mountain West play in Logan. USU Extension kicks off 2026 with Price Beef Field Day Jan. 9 (castlecountryradio.com) — Utah State University Extension is shifting its long-running beef workshop series, historically centered in Logan, to multiple regional sites in 2026, including a Jan. 9 Beef Field Day in Price. Logan-area cattle producers may still benefit from the broader statewide effort, which will cover market outlook, drought strategies, nutrition supplementation, and reproductive efficiency, with low-cost registration and lunch included.
