Honeysuckle Coffee is one step closer to Midvale (midvalejournal.com) — A new Honeysuckle Coffee location is moving forward right across from Midvale City Hall, backed by a $250,000 city loan to renovate a historic Main Street house. The cafe-by-day, barbecue-by-night spot is now targeting a summer 2026 opening and expects to create about 19 local jobs, supporting Midvale’s broader effort to revitalize its historic city center.
   

2. Midvale Elementary students honor Día de los Muertos with service and tradition (midvalejournal.com) — Midvale Elementary students and families spent a morning cleaning Midvale Cemetery, tying hands-on service to their long-running Día de los Muertos tradition. Kids from neighborhood and dual immersion classes built an ofrenda, shared family memories, and learned how Latino cultures honor loved ones, while strengthening connections within Midvale’s diverse community.
   

3. Brighton scores big off the field (midvalejournal.com) — Brighton High’s varsity football team spent part of fall break scrubbing, painting, and organizing at East Midvale Elementary, tackling everything from playground cleanup to food backpack prep. Working with the school’s community facilitator, the players focused on giving back to Midvale kids who cheer them on all season.
   

4. 'Frustrated' babysitter pleads guilty to murder in death of baby girl (ksl.com) — A Midvale babysitter has pleaded guilty to murdering a 4‑month‑old girl at the Road Home shelter on 7300 South, where the child lived with her mother. Prosecutors say he became frustrated with the baby’s crying, inflicted fatal head injuries in an elevator, and delayed seeking help. He now faces 15 years to life in prison, with sentencing set for Feb. 2.
   

5. Canyons School District shines a spotlight on excellence (sandyjournal.com) — Canyons School District recently honored standout educators and volunteers, including staff from Midvale Elementary and East Midvale Elementary, at its annual APEX awards. From a beloved Eastmont Middle cafeteria volunteer to district leaders and local teachers, the celebration highlighted people whose work directly supports students and families in Midvale and neighboring communities.
