Car Going 100 Mph Hits Cow On VT Road, Killing Driver: Police

A 48-year-old Vermont man was driving a Jaguar sedan when he hit the animal on Route 105 near Sheldon.

SHELDON, VT — A man is dead after the car he was driving at speeds of more than 100 mph hit a cow on a Vermont highway, according to state police.

The crash happened Sunday just after 10:50 p.m. on Route 105 in Sheldon, Vermont State Police said in a news release. According to authorities, Jason St Pierre, 48, of Enosburg, was driving a Jaguar Type S sedan at more than 100 mph when he struck a cow in the roadway near Abbey Restaurant.

St Pierre was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. A 30-year-old passenger was also in the car during the crash, police said. It's unclear whether he was injured.
