MORRISVILLE, VT — Rosmarie Trapp, the last surviving daughter of the Austrian family that inspired the 1965 film "The Sound Of Music," died last week at a nursing home in Morrisville, The Associated Press reported. She was 93.

Rosmarie was the first daughter of Georg and Maria von Trapp, who with their family escaped from Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938 and went on to perform singing tours throughout Europe and America.

The family settled in Vermont in the early 1940s and opened a ski lodge in Stowe, The AP reported. The Trapp Family Lodge announced Rosmarie's death on Tuesday.

"Her kindness, generosity, and colorful spirit were legendary, and she had a positive impact on countless lives," the statement read. "We believe the best way to recognize Rosmarie is to demonstrate the same selfless kindness and generosity that she exemplified daily."

Rosmarie was a half-sibling to the seven von Trapp children portrayed in the movie and on stage. Georg and Maria had two other children, Eleonore and Johannes, who did not appear in the film. Eleonore died in October in Northfield.
