VT Man Hit Teen With Truck, Tried Hiding Him In Ravine: Police

According to police, 20-year-old Parker Clark is charged with attempted second-degree murder following the Wednesday crash.

CRAFTSBURY, VT — A Vermont man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he hit a teenager with his truck and then attempted to hide his injured body in a ravine.

Parker Clark, 20, of Craftsbury, was driving a truck that police say struck 19-year-old Tyler Friend. According to police, Clark was doing donuts in a parking lot near a boating ramp on Beach Road in Greensboro when he hit Friend.

After hitting Friend, police say Clark loaded the other man into his truck and drove him to a remote farm in Craftsbury. He then drove across a cornfield to a wooded area before dragging Friend over a small ravine and into a creek, police said.

Clark returned to his truck, which became stuck in the mud, authorities said. Unable to leave, Clark returned to Friend and carried him back to the truck before going to a nearby farm for help, police said.

Due to the significant nature of his injuries, Friend was flown via helicopter to the University of Vermont Medical Center.

According to police, Clark was likely under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. Authorities have charged him with attempted second-degree murder, driving under the influence and gross negligent operation resulting in serious bodily injury.

Clark was arraigned Thursday in Newport.
