Watch: Candlelight Vigil For Heather Heyer, Victim Of Charlottesville Violence

The 32-year-old woman was killed when a car plowed into a crowd of protesters in Charlottesville Saturday.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — A vigil for Heather Heyer, the 32-year-old woman killed when a car plowed into a group of protesters at the scene of a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville Saturday, was held at the intersection of Water and Fourth Streets, where Heyer was killed Saturday.

The vigil started at 7 p.m. Leaders of Congregate C'ville, clergy members and other members of the community participated in the vigil for Heyer, a Virginia native who worked as a paralegal in Charlottesville who had come out to protest racism. In interviews with the media, Heyer's mother and the president of the law firm where she worked remembered her as kind and compassionate.

Heyer was one of three people killed in events linked to Saturday's white nationalist rally, held to oppose the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Two Virginia State Troopers also lost their lives when their helicopter crashed in a wooded area as they assisted with public safety resources in the ongoing events in Charlottesville.
