Attempted Abduction in Annandale: Suspect Faces Charges After Incident Wednesday, Police Say

A woman was walking her dog when a man got out of his car and grabbed her, police said; she was able to get away and call police.

ANNANDALE, VA -- Police report that a woman walking a dog was nearly abducted Wednesday night in Annandale. Police say the incident took place just before 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 5000 block of Bristow Drive in Annandale.

The victim was walking her dog when she saw a vehicle drive by slowly and return to her location, police said. The man exited the vehicle and approached her, according to police. The suspect then grabbed the victim but she was able to get away, police said. The victim was not injured.

Police located the suspect nearby and arrested him. Lucas Israel Mejia Arevalo, 35, was taken to jail and charged with abduction.
