In this hands-on workshop, photographers will create fine art and abstract images by shooting flowers through ice and portraits or still life through fabrics and other translucent materials. Participants must bring their cameras, lenses, and tripods and be familiar with manually adjusting aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings. Cosponsored by the George Mason Friends. Adults.

Haven of Northern Virginia Inc

Haven is a nonprofit, nonsectarian community organization of trained volunteers that offers emotional support to the bereaved, the seriously ill, the dying and to their families and friends. Haven also provides education to the community about the needs of those who are grieving.
Since September 1976 Haven volunteers have helped individuals work through their grief, offering comfort and support by sharing insights, resources and techniques that encourage recovery and healing. Haven offers support to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one by suicide. Support is conducted by trained volunteers, not therapists. No cost to attend. This in person drop in support group meets the second Saturday of each month. Please contact Haven for more information or just " drop in".

Sessions are taught by a certified yoga instructor. Please wear movement-friendly clothing. Registration required. Adults.

Learn how to condition, blend, texture, and bake&nbsp;polymer with the Potomac Polymer Clay Guild, the first polymer clay guild in the country.
Ages: 16 and up
Skill Level: Beginners/Intermediate
Cost: Free
<ul><li>Students will learn basic&nbsp;polymer&nbsp;techniques and decorate a finished piece.</li><li>Techniques include: color blending, stripes, dots, texture, silk screens (using acrylic paint).</li><li>Finished pieces may be the surface of a Nivea Tins, BIC ink pens, or zipper pulls.</li></ul>Classes are held at the Fred M. Packard Center, 4022 Hummer Road, Annandale VA 22003.
