Celebrate the Past at Historic Oak Hill on Sept. 24 in Annandale
Privately owned 18th-century Georgian-style home is all that remains of the Ravensworth Tract, totaling more than 22,000 acres.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Explore the past at the Oak Hill Open House on Saturday, Sept. 24, from noon until 4 p.m. Historic Oak Hill is a privately owned 18th-century Georgian-style home, and is all that remains of the Ravensworth Tract – totaling more than 22,000 acres – dating from the 1670s. Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova, Braddock District Supervisor John C. Cook and the Fairfax County Park Authority are working closely to sponsor the open house this year. This event is free to the public. A brief ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Sharon Bulova noted, “Oak Hill is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind place to celebrate Fairfax County’s exciting history. The Oak Hill Open House is the community’s chance to tour the grounds and first floor of one of the oldest homes in the region. I am honored to have spent the last decade working with the Park Authority, some amazing volunteers and the neighboring community to showcase not only this lovely historic home, but to give visitors a taste of historical events and other activities here in Fairfax County.”
The theme this year is “Celebrating the Community, Past and Present.” Before and after the “Welcoming Ceremony,” you can walk through the first floor of the house. Then visit the Exhibitors Tent on the lower lawn, where you will find information tables featuring a host of local and historic organizations. Free refreshments will be provided by the Annandale High School Culinary Arts Program.
