Got Drugs? Get Rid Of Them In Annandale This Weekend
Annandale residents can safely get rid of unused drugs for free during an upcoming collection.

ANNANDALE, VA—If you've been holding on to unused prescription drugs, now's the time to get rid of them with no questions asked. Fairfax County Police are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration in a one-day effort to collect unused drugs on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Residents can stop by the Mason District Station ( 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale) and all other police stations to anonymously turn in old, unused, or expired prescriptions. Collections will happen between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The collection is open to residents for free.
There are a few reminders residents should know before they go. It's recommended that identifying information be removed from the prescription label. Liquid products should remain sealed in their original container to prevent leakage.

At the last national drug take-back event in April, authorities collected 26,975 pounds of drugs statewide.
The medication drop off is a step in addressing drug abuse has raised concerns in the community. In 2016, Virginia had 1,420 drug-related deaths, nearly 400 more than the previous year, according to a new Virginia Department of Health Report.
