Poe Middle School Official Named 2022 Outstanding School-Based Leader

ANNANDALE, VA — Bianca Aiello, director of student services at Poe Middle School in Annandale, was named Outstanding School-Based Leader in the Fairfax County Public Schools system for the 2021-22 school year.
Aiello was recognized at the FCPS Honors event held June 8. The event, sponsored by Educate Fairfax, was hosted at George Mason University’s Center for the Arts.
Six FCPS employees, including Aiello, were among the finalists for Outstanding School-Based Leader in 2022.

Aiello’s guiding principle is "if you lead with your heart, you will never be wrong," FCPS said.
Described as a compassionate leader, Aiello focuses on student success in academics, behavior and wellness. She ensures that families have equitable access to the information that is crucial to their student’s success.

"Bianca’s work ethic and personal demeanor have helped her school build a caring culture, earned through the respect and trust she demonstrates to all stakeholders," FCPS said. "Because Bianca leads with her heart, she always finds joy in her work."
More than 700 employees in both instructional and operational roles are recognized through the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards Program. This year, 71 finalists representing 12 categories were recognized during the special award ceremony.
Among the finalists this year, FCPS Superintendent Scott Brabrand said in his opening comments at the ceremony that there seems to be a common thread among the award winners: adaptability in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and the return to classrooms and offices.
