USCIS Celebrates National Read Across America Day
Thirty-two area children will celebrate their U.S. citizenship on March 2 during a Dr. Seuss-themed children's ceremony in Annandale.
From U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services: Thirty-two area children will celebrate their U.S. citizenship Thursday, March 2 during a Dr. Seuss-themed children’s citizenship ceremony celebrating National Read Across America Day at the George Mason Regional Library in Annandale, Va.
Kimberly Zanotti, USCIS Washington field office director, will administer a special Oath of Allegiance to children that will don red and white Dr. Seuss hats for the occasion. She will also lead the pledge of allegiance. Children’s librarian Jane Ampah will deliver remarks, including excerpts from “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” by Dr. Seuss.
The children, ages five through twelve, hail from 17 countries: Armenia, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Honduras, Iran, Iraq, Mauritania, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam.
