Week Ahead: Artisans Craft Gallery Open House, Poe Middle School Fundraiser at Chipotle

Today is the final Monday of October. November's just around the corner. Here's a look at a handful of meetings and events in the Burke-area this week.

1. There will be a fundraiser on Monday for Annandale's Poe Middle School at Chipotle in Springfield, located at 7108 Old Keene Mill Rd. The restaurant will donate 50 percent of all proceeds from diners who mention Poe when paying for their bill to the middle school. The money will go toward the school's after-school program. The fundraiser starts at 5:30 p.m. Details.
2. Braddock District School Board Member Megan McLaughlin will join a representative from the Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) on Monday for a dialogue about changing school start times for schools in the Woodson High School pyramid. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will be in the cafeteria of Frost Middle School, located at  4101 Pickett Rd. in Fairfax. Details.
   
3. Annandale's Artisans United Gallery will host an open house Saturday at the Fred Packard Center, located at 4022 Hummer Rd. There will be refreshments and demonstrations. The open house starts at 10 a.m. Details.
4. Braddock District Supervisor John Cook's office and the Fairfax County Park Authority will host a presentation on Monday about current projects at local parks in the Braddock District. The presentation is from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Kings Park Library Meeting Room in the Kings Park Library, located at 9002 Burke Lake Rd. Details.
5. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will have their last October meeting on Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Board will address several issues throughout the county. To view an agenda, visit the Board's website.
