Woman Assaulted Early Thursday in Little River Turnpike Area: Police

Police say the woman was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground early Thursday near or at the Plaza at Landmark shopping center.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A woman was assaulted Thursday morning while walking on a sidewalk at or near the Plaza at Landmark shopping center, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police say the assault took place in the 6200 Little River Turnpike Thursday at about 6:16 a.m. A woman was walking on a sidewalk when a man passed by and allegedly grabbed her from behind, police said.

The suspect pushed her to the ground and then fled on foot, according to police. The victim did not require medical attention.

The suspect was described as black, approximately 20 to 24 years old, about 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with dark, short curly hair, and was wearing a flowered button-down shirt, black shorts, and black shoes, according to police.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing, police said.
