9 Retailers Plan VA Store Closures: Macy’s, Walgreens, Big Lots
Party City, Express, Red Lobster, Macy's, Walgreens are among the retailers that announced store closures in Virginia in 2024.
VIRGINIA — Store closures surged across the country in 2024 as dozens of brands shut down brick-and-mortar locations, including many in Virginia.
Retail data provider CoreSight earlier this year noted a 24 percent increase in store closures over last year as the retail industry adjusts to a shift in consumer shopping to online outlets, inflation and bankruptcies.
Among the companies that announced it would shut close stores in Virginia this year are these nine well-known retailers:

Express Clothing Chain To Close 2 VA Stores Amid Bankruptcy Filing
The clothing retailer Express said it intends to close about 95 stores nationwide, including three in Virginia, as it files for bankruptcy.
LL Flooring, formerly Lumber Liquidators, announced the closures of 200 stores across Virginia and the nation.
